Research Program Summary

Over the past decade, Dr. Long's work has focused on AI, clinical decision support, and vascular surgery outcomes, with emphasis on diagnostic accuracy, perioperative risk prediction, and surgical education.

Major focus areas include microembolization and neurocognitive outcomes after carotid interventions, peripheral mycotic aneurysm management, neuromonitoring during carotid endarterectomy, and endovascular outcomes research.

Current core projects include AI-assisted clinical problem solving in vascular surgery and machine-learning prediction of complications after endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). Ongoing UCSF work centers on AI tools for vascular imaging interpretation, perioperative risk prediction, and surgical education.
